Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee Colette Machado announced Tuesday she will step down as chairperson when the new Board of Trustees takes office in December.
Machado issued the following statement:
“After much thought and consideration, I am stepping down as Chair of the Board of Trustees. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our people in this capacity for the past four years. I would like to thank the community and my fellow trustees for supporting me. Together we have accomplished much. I look forward to the process to select a new chair. I will support the new chair and look forward to continuing to work on behalf of our people.”
Machado has served as chairperson since December 2010 and a trustee since 1996.
