Honolulu police responded to an early morning accident involving a motorcycle in Wahiawa Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at about 6 a.m. on Wilikina Drive near Schofield Barracks.
Police say the motorcyclist lost control and slid into the back of a pickup truck, which then slammed into the car in front of it.
Emergency Medical Services says the motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
“He was wearing a helmet. It looks like speed was a factor, but not alcohol,” said Lt. Carlene Lau, Honolulu Police Department.
Authorities also said the road was wet and it was still dark, which may have been factors in the crash.
Police closed the north-bound lane prior to McNair Gate while officers investigated.
All roads reopened just before 10 a.m.
