It’s the Acura Hawaii Pro Junior Challenge on Tuesday and it leads up to the Sony Open. Aiko Leong is a junior at Punahou School and is one of the junior pro golfers participating in this event.
What Aiko is most of proud of is winning the state championship last year with her Punahou teammates.
“One of our best players was out the entire season because she injured her wrist. So, we just wanted to go out there and play like we could do it,” she explained. “Coming out on top after being down on the first day was really rewarding.”
Her favorite drill involves putting a bucket down on the green, pacing off ten yards from the target and then going back in increments of ten. She suggests only putting down three balls to really focus on each shot. Aiko believes that practicing on hitting each and every shot while trying to hit the target will really help your short game.
