Bloomingdale’s first Hawaii store is expected to open this fall at Ala Moana Center.

Parent company, Macy’s, Inc., supplied the projection Thursday as part of its larger plan for the new year.

“We continue to maintain a very strong nationwide network of stores through an ongoing process of selectively adding new locations while also trimming those that no longer meet our performance requirements, where the real estate can be redeployed to more productive uses, or where are leases were not renewed,” said Terry Lundgren, Macy’s chairman and CEO.

The three-level, 167,000-square-foot store will serve as an anchor for the center’s Ewa wing, which is currently under construction, and employ 250 people.

The company will also hire approximately 180 associates for its newest Hawaii Macy’s store at Ka Makana Alii in Kapolei. The 103,000-square-foot store is expected to open in the fall of 2016.

Planned changes include the closure of 14 Macy’s stores in the spring. None are located in Hawaii.

Macy’s Inc. operates about 840 Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.
