A multiplex featuring a giant screen, recliner seats, and locally inspired cuisine will open in 2016 in the newly built Ka Makana Alii shopping mall in West Oahu.
Consolidated Theatres will open an eight-screen cinema at the shopping mall. Like the chain’s multiplex at Ward Village, it will feature a TITAN XC screen, equipped with multi-channel immersive sound.
But the Ka Makana Alii cinema will feature oversized, full-electric recliner seats, and besides the traditional theater fare of popcorn and soda, it will also offer a locally inspired menu created by Food Network veterans Bruce Seidel and Chef Santos Loo.
Ka Makana Alii will feature more than 150 shops and restaurants, two hotels and office space. Tenants will include Macy’s, H&M, Forever 21, Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Hawaii’s first Hampton Inn & Suites.
The first phase of the center, which includes more than 750,000 square feet of retail, dining, entertainment and hotel space, is scheduled to open in 2016.
