A fugitive wanted on Kauai has been captured.
Richard Leibman, 35, had been on the run since Dec. 4, 2014, when he failed to attend his status hearing at Lihue District Court.
After receiving a tip, officers located Leibman near the parking lot of Poipu Sands condominium on Sunday, Feb. 15, at around 6 p.m.
Leibman attempted to run from police and kicked an officer multiple times while trying to scale a wall. Despite his efforts to resist arrest, Leibman was detained and remains in police custody.
Leibman was arrested on a $10,000 bench warrant, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and is also suspected of first-degree burglary in a separate case.
He is expected to be charged and arraigned in district court this week.
