Paraglider dies from injuries due to Kaena Point accident

A man killed after a paragliding accident on Oahu’s North Shore on Thursday, Jan. 15, has been identified.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner identified him as Clayton Butler of Salt Lake City.

According to Honolulu police, the 30-year-old was paragliding near Kaena Point when he crashed and fell about 50 feet.

Witnesses say he was awake when bystanders rushed to his aid, then became unresponsive.

He was taken by ambulance in critical condition to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.

The medical examiner said he died of blunt force injuries to the torso.

There were no signs of foul play.
