The University of Hawai’i football team’s season-opener versus Colorado has been moved to Thursday, Sept. 3 with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium.
The teams were originally scheduled to play on Saturday, Sept. 5. The move allows the Rainbow Warriors two extra days to prepare for their game against defending national champion Ohio State, Saturday, Sept. 12 in Columbus, Ohio.
The UH-CU game is one of 10 games scheduled that day to open the 2015 season and second involving a Mountain West team (Utah State hosts Southern Utah).
It also marks the third time in six years that UH will open the season on a Thursday (2010 vs. USC and 2013 vs. USC). Hawai’i also opened the 2009 season on a Friday against Central Arkansas.
The teams have met five times including last season’s meeting in Boulder, Colo., won by CU 21-12. Each team has defended its home field with the Rainbow Warriors winning in 1925 and 2011 and CU victorious in 2010 and ’14.
