Local 5, the union representing workers at Kaiser Permanente hospitals and clinics, sent a 10-day strike notice to the healthcare provider.
This does not mean the workers will strike, but it provided notification a strike is possible.
Kaiser responded with a statement: “We attempted to prevent the strike by urging them to return to the bargaining table as soon as possible. If a strike takes place, we will take the necessary steps to minimize disruption to our patients and members.”
KHON2 will be keeping an eye on this and let you know if anything changes.
On Jan. 17, the union that represents about 18,000 Kaiser Permanente nurses in Northern and Central California reached a tentative contract with the medical provider and canceled a two-day strike planned for the following week at 86 hospitals and clinics.
