A 38-year-old Molokai man is in custody on Sunday after colliding his vehicle into an ex-girlfriend’s car on Kamehameha V Hwy. on Jan. 7, according to Maui County police.
Pakluke Lau was arrested and charged for attempted murder in the first degree, reckless driving, two counts of terroristic threatening in the first degree and two counts of violation of an order for protection.
His ex-girlfriend, a 35-year-old female from Kaunakakai, was driving westbound when she observed Lau, also from Kaunakakai, approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed.
The incident resulted in a collison.
According to police, the female sustained minor injuries, was treated and later released, according to police.
Lau sustained non-life threatening injuries, but was later flown to Oahu for further treatment.
His bail has been set at $115,000.
