Hawaii athletes sign letters of intent to mainland schools

Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance signing day, Sheraton Waikiki

High school football standouts from across the state put pen to paper Wednesday at the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance signing day event at Sheraton Waikiki.

The Pac-12 Conference was well represented as more than two dozen athletes signed with NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

Counting preferred walk-ons, Oregon scored five players from the Aloha state while California came up with three.

Perhaps the biggest get of all was Olin-Kreutz-Award winner and All-American center Fred Ulu-Perry, who gave his eight claps to UCLA.
