A Kekaha home is considered a total loss following a fire that broke out shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters from the Hanapepe and Waimea fire stations, along with Rescue 3, responded to the four-bedroom home on Akikiki Place.
The fire was deemed under control at roughly 9:30 a.m. and fully extinguished at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Fire inspectors estimate the blaze caused roughly $270,000 in damage to the structure and its contents.
The fire appeared to have originated in a back bedroom. The cause remains under investigation.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross and a representative from the state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands are assisting the displaced family of seven.
