Man arrested, charged after shooting incident in Makawao

Maui police have arrested Edward Richard Hunter Hazuka III after a shooting incident in Makawao Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old male has been charged with reckless endangering in the first degree.

Police say that their investigation revealed that Hazuka was confronted by three males at his property on Piiholo Road.

Hazuka was armed with a shotgun and discharged a round. Pellets then ricocheted and struck the three males, resulting in minor injuries.

Hazuka’s bail is set $1,000.


§707-713 Reckless endangering in the first degree. (1) A person commits the offense of reckless endangering in the first degree if the person employs widely dangerous means in a manner which recklessly places another person in danger of death or serious bodily injury or intentionally fires a firearm in a manner which recklessly places another person in danger of death or serious bodily injury.
