Honolulu police report that a car crashed into a bridal shop on Queen Street Friday morning.
It happened at around 9:30 a.m. in the Keola Lai building.
Fire officials say the vehicle drove through a wall in the parking structure and into Bijou Bridal & Special Occasion. There were two women inside.
“I was in the office waiting and I heard this huge crash, screech, yelling,” said witness Roy Goshi-Otaguro. “I rushed out and I saw this hole in the wall. I jumped in and tried to get them out… she just kept on saying ‘I hit the brake, I hit the brake but it kept on going.'”
“They were entrapped by the resulting debris of the accident,” explained Capt. David Jenkins with the Honolulu Fire Department.
The women were assisted out of the car unharmed and refused treatment from Emergency Medical Services.
Firefighters conducted an initial inspection and determined the building’s structural integrity remained sound.
The building’s management will contract a structural engineer to do a further evaluations, Jenkins said.
The shop was closed at the time.
