Hawaiian Airlines’ flight from Oakland turned back due to ‘maintenance issue’

Hawaiian Airlines reports that a flight departing from Oakland heading to Honolulu Tuesday morning was turned back due to a maintenance issue.

Flight HA 47 departed Oakland at 9:35 a.m. PST and because of the reported issue shortly after takeoff, the captain elected to return to the East Bay airport.

Passengers deplaned and an extra aircraft in the airlines’ system, which departed San Jose earlier in the morning for Honolulu, instead flew to Oakland to pick up those passengers.

That flight left at 2:38 p.m. PST and is scheduled to arrive in Honolulu around 12:47 p.m. HST.
