Cable repairs have been completed and all lanes on Wilikina Drive near Kunia Road were reopened at 3 p.m. Saturday.
A 200-yard stretch of the far right-hand lane on Wilikina Drive after Kunia Road was closed so Hawaiian Telcom technicians could complete repairs to four severed cables, totaling 1,000 pairs.
On Thursday, a large truck belonging to a private contractor was transporting a piece of heavy machinery on Wilikina Drive in Wahiawa when it snagged on overhead cables, severing Hawaiian Telcom cables and knocking down a 40-foot utility pole.
Hawaiian Telcom crews worked around the clock to replace the utility pole and cables following the accident.
The crash occurred at around 11:25 a.m. Thursday.
Emergency Medical Services says the crash involved a pickup truck and a semi truck. The driver of the pickup truck, a 73-year-old man, and the driver of the semi truck, a 59-year-old man, were taken to the hospital in stable condition, EMS said. Both were wearing seat belts.
Two other people at the scene were not hurt and refused treatment, EMS said.
The fallen cables initially blocked all lanes of traffic on Wilikina Drive between Kunia and Kaukonahua Roads. The road was contraflowed overnight as crews worked on repairs.
About 10 customers reported telephone and Internet service outages.
