Maui Electric: Strong winds triggered power outages

Monday’s power outages on Maui were caused by strong winds.

According to Maui Electric, strong, gusty winds caused electrical lines on Kahului Beach Road to swing together on two separate occasions, resulting in two power outages.

The first outage occurred at 2:27 p.m. with restoration completed at 3 p.m.

The same area experienced a second outage at 3:53 p.m. while Maui Electric crews were on the scene conducting repairs.

Affected customers were brought back online at 4:06 p.m.
