For the first time, the Department of Labor, Oahu WorkLinks and Hawaii Pacific Health partnered with Leeward Community College (LCC) to develop and launch a training program with guaranteed job placement for the inaugural cohort.
Organizers say after you go through the 60 day program, you’ll get a job. This is all to meet an urgent employment need in the Hawaii Healthcare Industry.
This course is for Patient Services Representatives in 60-days to meet an urgent employment need. The first cohort will gain direct employment within the Hawaii Pacific Health system.
Hawaii Pacific Health donated items to create a mock clinic or office within the classroom. This program meets the National Association of Healthcare Access Management industry standard for Certified Healthcare Access Associates.
The National Association of Healthcare Access Management is the only national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the management of patient access services in all areas of the healthcare delivery system. Patient access services include: admissions, scheduling, registration, patient finance, guest relations, and other related services.
The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is currently working on future partnerships with other Hawaii healthcare employers. To apply for the program, go to http://www.ocewd.org/patientservices.
Hawaii Pacific Health is also offering a summer health careers internship program for graduating high school seniors and college students at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital, Wilcox Memorial Hospital, and Kauai Medical Clinic.
This program provides students with opportunities to gain first-hand experience in the healthcare industry, learn more about hospital systems, and explore a variety of different healthcare professions. It is our hope that participants will acquire valuable life experiences that will be beneficial as they transition from postsecondary education to the workforce.
