A Big Island councilwoman is speaking out about the investigation into Mayor Billy Kenoi’s spending on his government-issued credit card.
Margaret Wille said she’s bothered by the situation and is calling for more accountability.
Kenoi admitted to using his p-card for personal use including nearly $900 at a hostess bar in Honolulu.
Then yesterday Always Investigating sifted through more than 150 pages of the mayor’s spending and found other charges for drinks, food and more.
“The mayor should be setting the examples for all of us and not where everybody else is treated one way. So it all bothers me but that’s what bothers me the most,” said Wille.
The mayor said he paid all the money back. The prosecutor is looking into whether any laws were broken.
