Honolulu police are looking for a man who reportedly tried to kidnap a 10-year-old girl.
It happened in the Hickam area at around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
According to police, the suspect attempted to kidnap the girl, but she got away, went home and told her mother.
Navy Region Hawaii released the following statement:
“Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and the Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI) responded promptly to the incident and conducted a preliminary investigation. JB Security forces procedures included searching with mobile patrol units, interviewing residents in the area, and stopping and positively identifying all personnel leaving the base. After an extended time without any signs of the alleged suspect, the search was terminated. Due to the age of the alleged victim, the Honolulu Police Department assumed the investigation. JB Security forces still are maintaining vigilance on this report. We take safety and security of our children and residents seriously.
