Despite having to battle gusty conditions at Ko Olina, defending LPGA Lotte Champion Honolulu’s Michelle Wie remains in contention.
The 24-year-old Punahou graduate who started on the 10th hole easily made the cut, posting her first eagle of the week on her sixth hole of the day.
A double-bogey on the second hole was her only blemish of the round as she wrapped the day with a 3-under 69, placing her at 5-under overall with two rounds to go.
Through 36 holes, South Korea’s In-Kyung Kim and Sei Young Kim top the leaderboard at 10-under. Wie is currently in a three-way tie for 8th place.
Wie tees off at 11:41 a.m. Friday with Ai Miyazato and Jenny Shin.
