Dozens of Kapolei High School students have been waiting to return home from Samoa since Friday night when their Hawaiian Airlines plane turned around due to mechanical problems.
Thirty-seven students from the Kapolei High School Polynesian Club and eight accompanying adults were on a cultural learning trip that started April 10.
But on Friday, their night flight to Honolulu turned back to Samoa about an hour after departure.
An airline representative said it accommodated the group in hotels and sent a new plane to Samoa. The flight is due to leave at 5:10 p.m. Sunday Hawaii time.
