Four Oahu non-profit organizations will conduct the 2015 Junior Lifeguard Program this summer at five sites on Oahu.
The organizations include the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association, the North Shore Lifeguard Association, Kamaaina Kids and Na Kama Kai.
“We all know the value of the junior lifeguard program in our community,” said Ralph Goto of the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association. “The four organizations have the experience, knowledge and resources to deliver this year’s Junior Lifeguard program in a cooperative effort with the City and County of Honolulu’s Ocean Safety Division.”
Oahu sessions will begin the week of June 8 and will run through July 24.
Cost for a one-week session is $100 per child. Scholarships are available for all sites. The North Shore Program will be conducted at no charge.
The five North Shore sessions will be conducted concurrently with the other Oahu sites, starting June 8 and running through July 17. North Shore classes will be held at Ehukai Beach Park and Waimea Bay.
The Oahu Junior Lifeguard Championships will be conducted at Waimea Bay on Saturday, July 25.
The State of Hawaii Junior Lifeguard Championships will be conducted on Saturday, August 1, at Hapuna Beach on Hawaii Island.
