California fitness blogger creates viral video to battle body shaming

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A fitness blogger and fitness personality with millions of subscribers has released a powerful video about body image.

Cassey Ho, a certified fitness instructor who posts uplifting and inspirational messages about loving your body, admits to recently receiving hateful comments about her own body.

“Within the past few months though, it’s gotten really negative online. It’s actually been terrible,” Ho wrote in a recent blog post.

In response to those comments, Ho created a video that shows the negative comments people have sent, then shows Ho going through the process of photoshopping her own body. She slims her thighs and stomach, as well as changing her eye color and bust.

“In this video, you will experience what it feels like to be constantly bombarded with outrageous negativity,” writes Ho on her blog. “You will see what it looks like to have your self esteem stripped away.”

At the end of the post, Ho encourages followers to share the video to “battle body shaming.”

When you look in the mirror, are you happy with what you see? Or do you stare at yourself, pinching your fat away, lifting up your butt, pushing in your boobs, wishing you looked like a VS supermodel? It’s hard to be content with the shape of your body when people are constantly telling you how fat you are. The backhanded compliments, the mean comments, the cyber bullying – all of this messes with us…and it hurts. What if getting flat abs and bigger boobs was as easy as a click. What if you could stop all the hate and just photoshop yourself right now, in real life? What would you change?
