On Monday, Facebook added another feature to its Messenger app: Face-to-face video calls.
The company pulled the feature out of its main app, added voice calls, a payment system, and position this as a direct competitor to Apple’s Facetime, Microsoft’s Skype, and Google’s Hangout.
The feature is really simple for Messenger users; just click the little video camera icon while you’re chatting away.
Facebook says it has 600 million people already using the app around the world.
It even hints, again, about its upcoming Business on Messenger which is part of an attempt on entering the business communications market which has been dominated by Microsoft and Salesforce.
Where Facebook has an advantage is its sheer scale and ability to run on iOS and Android based phones.
