The Hikianalia, is now on its way back to Hawaii. The voyaging canoe has been docked in Tahiti for about a month, as the Hokulea continued to Australia. The Hikianalia was supposed to be Hokulea’s escort boat in the world wide voyage but because of its limited capabilities the crew decided Hikianalia should come back to Hawaii.

The voyage should take about 20-30 days. The Hokulea is currently in Sydney, Australia and is expected to depart for Brisbane next week. They will sail along the coast to cultural sites, until reaching their final destination in the city of Darwin in July.

This is the first time Hokulea has left the Pacific Ocean.
