Firefighters respond to Diamond Head brush fire

Honolulu firefighters are dealing with another brush fire Saturday, this time along the ridge line of Diamond Head Crater, near Diamond Head Road.

Nine companies responded to the call at 4:01 p.m.

Firefighters say the blaze was contained about an hour later and was extinguished by 6 p.m.

The brush fire came within 20 feet of homes on Wauke Street, but was contained before the residences were exposed to the flames.

Approximately 6 acres were burned.

Diamond Head Road, from the intersection of Monsarrat/Trouseau to the entrance of the crater, has been reopened.

No injuries and damage to structures were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
