Man killed in H-3 motorcycle crash identified

The Honolulu medical examiner has identified a 25-year-old man who was killed on the H-3 Freeway Sunday.

Nikolaus Gilleran of Honolulu was thrown from his motorcycle after losing control near the Likelike Highway off-ramp heading toward Kailua.

The call came in at 2:18 p.m. and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at 2:35 p.m.

Officials said Gilleran was wearing a helmet, but it came off on impact.

The medical examiner said he died from head injuries.

All eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed until about 6 p.m.
