Greg Louganis to headline the 2015 Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival

He was pioneer in the sport of diving, a four-time olympian, whose power and grace from the platform is still talked about today. The 26th annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival starts tonight and this year a very special guest will be here, Greg Louganis.

The Honolulu Gay and Lesbian Cultural Foundation announced that the Samoan-American diver, the first man to win two gold medals in diving in two consecutive Olympiads, will headline the 2015 Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, June 4-7, 2015.

The opening night red carpet event on June 04 at Doris Duke Theatre and Sat. June 06 at the Hawaii Premiere of “Back on Board” screening at Kahala Consolidated Theatres at 7:55 and 8:20.
There will be a Q&A opportunity after screening. Back on Board is an engrossing story about an American legend on the cusp of a comeback. This film reveals Louganis’ evolution from childhood diving prodigy to Olympic champion and from pioneering openly gay athlete with HIV to a sometimes forgotten sports icon. His recent return to diving as a mentor to US Olympic divers competing at the 2012 London Games provides an exciting new chapter to his life-story and to the film.

HRFF will screen the film on Saturday, June 6 at Kahala Theaters, with a Q&A session following the screening. The Olympian will also attend the festivals’ annual Red Carpet Event at Luce Pavilion at the Doris Duke Theatre on Thursday, June 4th and a private dinner event will be held on Friday, June 5th at a location which will be announced in April.
We are proud to welcome Greg Louganis to Hawaii, and we look forward to him sharing his story, his film and his legacy with our LGBT community and allies.
