Hawaii Island police have ruled out foul play in the death of a man along the Hamakua Coast.
Patrick Dacayanan, 54, was found dead Friday morning, June 5, under Nanue Bridge in Umauma, near the 18-mile marker of Highway 19, also known as the Hawaii Belt Road.
According to an autopsy conducted Tuesday, June 9, the Hilo resident died from injuries consistent with a fall from a height. Detectives have ruled out foul play.
This was the second death reported in the area. On Monday, June 1, a woman’s body was found in Umauma Stream.
She was later identified as Bobbie “Jackie” Carnathan, 62, who was reported missing just days before.
An autopsy determined that she also died from traumatic injuries consistent with a fall from a height, and foul play was not suspected.
