A body was recovered Sunday around 9:45 a.m. just outside of the Point Panic surf spot.
The body was discovered about a half-mile offshore, dressed in a shirt and shorts.
It was brought into the Ala Wai Harbor where paramedics were already on the scene.
“The body is a Caucasian male in his 30s with long brown hair,” said police lieutenant Walter Calistro, “and at this time we have no identification on him, so an unattended death case has been initiated. If anyone has information of who this person might be please contact the police at 911.”
Fire captain Michael Chun said that was no relation between the person who found the body and the dead man. “Apparently, the boater was out for a Sunday stroll, and what happened was he came across a body in the ocean, so he notified us.”
The boaters who found the body were on a pleasure craft.
