Leahi Premier Soccer Club U-15 President's Cup Champions

Two Leahi Soccer club teams are headed to the 2015 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup after winning the region IV championship in Snohomish, Washington on Sunday.

The Leahi 2001 Premier girls defeated Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks Crawford for the U14 title, while Leahi 2000 Premier defeated Real Colorado 99//00 Red for the U15 title.

Leahi 2001 Premier tore through the U14 competition with a perfect 6-0 record, outscoring their opponents 45-1. Their closest match came in the semifinals against Rampage Black LH when Leah Feato’s overtime goal gave them the 2-1 win. In the finals game, Leahi 01 defeated DMCV 5-0.

Seven of the tournament’s top ten scorers were Leahi 01 players. Feato led the way with 13 goals, two of which came in the championship game for the game’s second and third goals.

The Leahi 2000 Premier girls began the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Eastside FC 99 White, after dropping a 2-1 lead with less than 20 minutes left in the game. But Leahi 00 bounced back and finished the tournament on a five-game win streak, outscoring their opponents 18-1.

In the finals game, they defeated Real Coloardo 2-1 with Chelsie De Ponte scoring the game winner. Leahi 00’s Ciana Rivera (6) and De Ponte (4) finished in the top five in scoring for the weekend.

Both teams will be headed to the National Presidents Cup in Overland Park, Kansas from July 9-12.

Leahi 1999 Premier also competed in tournament in the U16 division. They finished 2-2-1, after falling 3-1 in the semifinals to the eventual tournament runner up Crush Blue.
