On Monday, Lifetime released the trailer for its new movie “A Deadly Adoption,” starring Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig.
News of the project leaked on April Fool’s Day, prompting the former “Saturday Night Live” stars to scrap their plans.
The timing prompted many to wonder whether or not the movie was even real.
Turns out, it is.
According to Lifetime, “A Deadly Adoption” is a high-stakes dramatic thriller inspired by a true story about a successful couple who house and care for a woman (Jessica Lowndes of “90210”) during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child.
Lifetime never acknowledges whether the movie is meant to be a parody, through Ferrell and Wiig are both known for their comedic chops, as is executive producer Adam McKay, who directed both “Anchorman” movies and “Step Brothers.” Ferrell is also one of the movie’s executive producers.
“A Deadly Adoption” premieres Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and 5 p.m. HST.
