Maui Community Correctional Center staff captured a workline inmate who attempted to escape the facility Monday morning.
At approximately 8:40 a.m., inmate Edward Morgan was cleaning inside the front gatehouse. He managed to slip out the front door behind a civilian who walked in. Two corrections officers pursued Morgan and caught him a couple blocks from the facility.
The incident is under investigation. Morgan is now in Maui police custody pending an escape charge.
Morgan is serving time for burglary and theft. His sentence end date is December of this year.
