Following Saturday’s rescue of a Hawaiian monk seal, a young female nene goose was rescued Sunday and now on the road to recovery.
The injured nene was found on a private property on Kauai’s north shore. After three days of coaxing, volunteers from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were able to capture the goose Sunday morning, and bring it to a surgeon.
It turns out the nene had a compound fracture of her left leg.
The surgery was reportedly a success and the nene will be recovering at a rescue center for the next six weeks before she is released back into the wild.
