A 20-year-old man from Kailua-Kona is dead following a domestic altercation.
On Sunday, June 21, at 10:05 p.m., Kona patrol officers were at Kona Community Hospital for an unrelated case when Ezra Barro arrived in a private vehicle and was taken to the emergency room with a laceration to his left forearm.
Barros was in critical condition throughout his time at the hospital until his death Sunday morning, June 28.
While detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, the investigation initially revealed that Barro received the injury in what was described as a domestic altercation at a home on the 73-1200 block of Awakea Street in Kailua-Kona.
Hawaii Island police released an 18-year-old Kailua-Kona woman who was arrested early Monday, June 22, in connection with the domestic dispute with Barro. She was arrested at the scene on suspicion of first-degree assault and abuse of a family/household member.
