Cancellation of Hawaii-Las Vegas flight strands passengers

After more than a day’s delay, dozens of travelers are expected to fly from Honolulu to Las Vegas Friday.

Passengers on Allegiant Airlines Flight 571 were supposed to depart at 10:30 a.m. HST Thursday, but the flight was delayed due to a fuel leak.

Travelers waited for nearly seven hours as mechanics attempted to fix the issue. Allegiant then decided to cancel the fight for the day.

A new estimated departure time was set for Friday at 5:15 p.m. HST.

Passengers who did not live in the area were provided overnight hotel accommodations and all were issued $250 vouchers for use toward a future flight.

The airline also said anyone who chose not to take Friday’s flight could reschedule to any other flight in the network within the next two weeks without paying any fees or not fly at all and receive a full refund.
