Tumblr may have come up with the biggest “time suck” of all time that they’re calling Tumblr TV.
Tumblr is a social media platform that Yahoo! bought in 2013 and hosts over 238 million blogs.
Of the large social media sites, Tumblr tends to have a younger demographic. According to eMarketer, 27 percent of their users are under the age of 34.
The company’s new initiative displays an endless stream of animated GIFs (an image format) that can be filtered by a specific account or by hashtag.
For example, https://www.tumblr.com/tv/hawaii is the link to see Tumblr TV in action for #hawaii (note that the images may not be “safe for work” as they are uploaded by users of the platform).
Recently, Tumblr release a GIF search engine. Tumblr TV adds to that feature as it gives viewers the opportunity to see images that they wouldn’t have normally seen.
You also don’t need a Tumblr account to view the site.
If you’re ready for some mindless entertainment, wander over to Tumblr TV and enjoy the show.
