One-hundred-sixty-six of the nation’s hand-selected prep pigskin prospects will descend upon Beaverton, Ore. for Nike’s “The Opening” finals on July 7.
Three of the invited guests are a few of Hawaii’s top football prospects.
Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise will join Mililani’s Vavae Malepeai and Kalakaua Timoteo as representatives at high school football’s most prestigious camp.
Eletise, who holds 42 scholarship offers from across the country, will whittle down a recently released top 10 list of schools to a top 5 in Oregon.
“It’s a hard decision to cut the 10 down to five. It’s kind of sad, but it’s also relief to get it over with. Then soon after that I’m going to make my announcement and my commitment,” Eletise said.
The four-star recruit, who’s ranked 209th in the class of 2016 by Scout.com, will hope to prove the hype that comes with an offer sheet as extensive as any in the nation.
“I want to go up there and try and learn everything I can. I also want to test myself because I go against the same people here. These are the 166 best in the country so I want to test myself and see how I do against them.”
The Opening runs from July 7-10 and will broadcast nationwide on ESPNU.
