Just in time for the Fourth of July festivities, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue has opened the first of two concession stands at Ala Moana Beach Park.
The concession stand is located near Magic Island and is currently open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Those hours will be extended from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. starting Saturday, July 11.
“It’s pretty nice to have somewhere to eat when everyone’s over here,” said Kahaluu resident Nick Young.
“It’s pretty convenient,” said Honolulu resident Ivy Yamaguchi. “You don’t have to walk all the way across to Ala Moana to go eat.”
In addition to traditional plate-lunch favorites, the concession stand will offer a healthier line of plate lunches featuring brown rice and tossed greens, as well as party pans and other catering items, ice and bottled water.
A grand opening was held on the 4th of July with Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, L&L president Eddie Flores and chief operating officer Bryan Andaya in attendance.
“If it works out, I’d love to talk to the mayor about Waikiki and other places, too,” Flores said. “Our model has always been shopping centers. If this works, it could be a big thing for us and a big thing for the community, too.”
A second concession stand near the Ewa end of the park is expected to open by the end of the summer after renovations.
