Two inmates who failed to report to a Kona extended furlough house for their scheduled check-in Thursday evening, July 30, have been captured.
Extended furlough inmate Donald Soares was captured Wednesday, Aug. 19. State sheriffs took him into custody at around 7:15 a.m. in Puna.
Soares is serving time for burglary and theft. Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for November.
Another inmate was captured Friday afternoon, July 31.
At approximately 1 p.m., deputy sheriffs located and arrested Dyson Kepano in the Kona area. He was transported to the Hawaii Community Correctional Center.
Kepano is serving time for burglary, theft and forgery. Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for August.
Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.
