A man suspected of fatally shooting another man during a robbery in Palolo back in June has finally been charged.
Wilbur Gutierrez, 43, was indicted by an Oahu grand jury on Wednesday on murder, robbery, and firearms charges.
He’s being held on $1 million bail.
On June 20, a man was shot and killed at New Valley Store on the corner of Palolo Avenue and Kauhana Street.
Just before 7:30 p.m., police said a man entered the store and demanded money from an employee.
A 44-year-old man intervened and that’s when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several rounds, hitting the victim in the torso.
On June 24, Gutierrez was arrested for the crime, but wasn’t charged at the time.
However, he remained in custody for a parole violation.
