Roadwork has begun in Palolo Valley.
The $13.5 million road repaving project contracted to Road and Highway Builders includes cold planing, reconstruction, and resurfacing of the asphalt roadway (see map).
Pre-paving work began this week and the duration of the job is expected to last 360 calendar days. The work schedule is from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays.
Pre-paving activities include the reconstruction of identified curbs, gutters, and driveways, and street tree mitigation, such as trimming, pruning, or removal, under the guidance and recommendations of a qualified arborist. Post-paving work includes the adjustment of utilities to finish grade and the installation of permanent pavement markings and vehicle loop sensors.
Motorists are asked to avoid unnecessary travel through the area or consider alternate routes when possible, otherwise anticipate delays. Local residential traffic, deliveries, and trash collection will be allowed during construction. Any illegally parked cars will towed at the owner’s expense.
Road and Highway Builders is responsible for coordinating local traffic. Please call Road and Highway Builders at 681-9401 with concerns.
