The state Department of Public Safety (DPS) reports that the Waiawa Correctional Facility (WCF) is experiencing a power outage.
At about 9:30 p.m., the facility loss power service due to a downed power line in the area. The facility is operating on backup generators.
WCF is a minimum security facility and DPS says it is normally under lockdown at night.
The lockdown will be lifted at sunrise, but movement around the grounds will be limited until the power is restored.
Officials say that HECO crews are fixing the power lines, but they were told work is not expected to be completed until early tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. As a result, Saturday visits at WCF have been cancelled.
