An Oahu woman who was on the run for weeks is back in custody on Oahu.
State sheriffs arrested Chantel Andrade in Hilo on a felony indictment after Andrade turned herself in Friday morning.
“Pursuing leads our deputies were able to track her down and encourage her to turn herself in and she did turn herself in to our deputy sheriffs,” said Department of Public Safety spokesperson Toni Schwartz
She will be charged with accident involving death or serious bodily injury and driving without a license.
In addition, Andrade has one criminal misdemeanor bench warrant and seven traffic misdemeanor bench warrants.
Deputy sheriffs transported her to Oahu to be processed on those warrants as well.
Andrade couldn’t post her $100,000 bail, so she is at Oahu Community Correctional Center to await her next court appearance.
A grand jury indicted Andrade last month for a crash on Oahu that killed 25-year-old Keith Jantoc back in April.
Police say Jantoc was riding a motorcycle on the H-1 Freeway near Waikele when he was hit by an SUV.
A police source told KHON2 that upon impact, the SUV dragged Jantoc about a half-mile before coming to a tragic end just beyond the Kunia on-ramp.
A warrant was issued for her arrest last month when she failed to show up for her court hearing.
