Keiki Talk: Getting the school year off to a good start

Every second Friday, Diane Ako chats with psychologist Dr. Suzanne Gelb about Keiki & the Ohana. Today’s Keiki Talk topic is:  getting the school year off to a good start.

Dr. Gelb advises you teach your children good habits at home that support success in school. Sometimes children get anxious about going back to school, and she attributes that to being overwhelmed with lots to learn and shame about ignorance. Teach them it’s alright to ask for help!

Parents can help children reach their academic potential by teaching good habits, being involved, and keeping lines of communication open. For more information on this and other keiki topics, visit www.DrSuzanneGelb.com.
