Road Work for the Week, Aug. 15-21

The State Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that the H-1 Freeway eastbound University Avenue off-ramp will be closed 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for repair work.


SCHEDULE OF LANE CLOSURES (Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.):

— H-1 FREEWAY —

PEARL CITY
8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Up to three lanes closed in the eastbound direction between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and the Waiawa Road Overpass for the rail project. The number of lanes closed will vary depending on the location of the roadwork.

PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU
8 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday through Sunday: Right lane closures in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) for deck widening.

  • Three right lanes closed from 8 p.m. Saturday, through 10 a.m. Sunday.
  • Two right lanes closed 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
  • One right lane closed 2-6 p.m. Sunday.

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Now through 12:01 a.m. Monday: Three left lanes closed in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15B). All ramps will remain open. Speed limits will be reduced to 15 mph in order to minimize traffic induced vibrations that may lead to cracking in the newly repaired deck.

WAIAWA INTERCHANGE
Sunday through Friday morning between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. for the rail project:

H-1/H-2 Freeways near Leeward Community College

  • Up to three eastbound lanes of the freeway approaching the H-1/H-2 merge (Waiawa Interchange) closed overnight.
  • Number of lanes closed each night may vary depending on location of work along freeway.

Sunday through Friday morning between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. for the rail project:
Farrington Highway to H-1 Freeway

  • Eastbound Waipahu on-ramp closed overnight.

Freeway Waipahu off-ramp

  • Westbound Waipahu off-ramp closed overnight.

WAIPAHU
9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure of the Farrington Highway On-Ramp to the freeway in the eastbound direction for the rail project.

— H-2 FREEWAY —

MILILANI TO WAIPIO
8 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday morning: Lane closures in the southbound direction between the Mililani Off-Ramp (Exit 5) and the Ka Uka Boulevard Overpass for bridge joint repair.

  • One lane closed from 8-9 p.m.
  • Two lanes closed from 9-10 p.m.
  • Three lanes closed from 10 p.m.-5 a.m.

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

EAST KAPOLEI/EWA
7:30 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday through Friday morning, and 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Friday through Monday, Aug. 24 : Closed between Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road) and Old Fort Weaver Road Loop for the rail project.

PEARL CITY
8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Two lanes closed in the westbound direction between Waiawa Road and the Kamehameha Highway Overpass for the rail project.

9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Full closure of the highway eastbound on-ramp to the H-2 Freeway in the northbound direction for the rail project.

8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Two lanes closed in the westbound direction between Waiawa Road and the Kamehameha Highway Overpass for the rail project.

WAIPAHU
9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp from the highway in the westbound direction for the rail project.

Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project:

Old Fort Weaver Road to Leoku Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Leoku Street to Leokane Street

  • Leoku Street intersection closed 7 p.m.-6 a.m. weeknights. Traffic detoured to Leokane Street.
  • Left turn from the highway westbound at Leoku Street closed 24/7.
  • Closed westbound lanes between Leokane Street and Leoku Street will be crossed over to the eastbound side of the highway between 7 p.m.-6 a.m.
  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.-6 a.m., plus Saturday as needed.

Pupupuhi Street to Aniani Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Left turns from the highway eastbound and westbound at Aniani closed 24/7.

Aniani Street to Waipahu Depot Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Left turns from the highway eastbound and westbound at Aniani closed 24/7.

Waipahu Depot Road to Mokuola Street

  • Outside lane of the highway westbound and a section of Mokuola Street on the mauka side closed 7 p.m.-6 a.m.
  • Left turns from eastbound at Mokuola will be resticted 24/7.

Mokuola Street to Paiwa Street

  • Left turn from highway westbound into the strip mall fronting 7-Eleven closed 24/7.
  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Paiwa Street to Kahualii Street

  • Left turn from highway eastbound at Kahualii closed 24/7.
  • Inside lane of the highway eastbound closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Kahualii Street to Kamehameha Highway

  • Outside lane of the highway eastbound closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

AIEA/ALOHA STADIUM
Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project:

Kuleana Road to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes also closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Various left-turn pocket restrictions will be in place.

Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
  • One westbound lane closed 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Pedestrians will be detoured to Kaonohi Street.

Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • One westbound lane of the highway closed 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Various left-turn pocket restrictions will be in place.
  • Intersection at Pali Momi Street closed after 10 p.m.

Near Aloha Stadium-Honomanu Street to Salt Lake Boulevard

  • Up to three westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Various left turn restrictions in place.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
  • Up to three westbound lanes of Salt Lake Blvd. will be closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.

KAAAWA
24/7 lane closure in the northbound direction between Keo Place and Trout Farm Road for emergency shoreline improvements. Traffic will be contraflowed in the remaining open lane. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

PEARL CITY TO AIEA 
Honolulu Rail Transit will be working on Kamehameha Highway this week at various locations.

  • One westbound lane of the highway near Acacia Road closed between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with various left turn restrictions. One eastbound lane also closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Waiawa Road and Acacia Road.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Acacia Road and Waimano Home Road.
  • Inside eastbound lane of the highway closed 24/7 between Waimano Home Road and Puu Momi Street. Two eastbound lanes will remain open during peak travel times. One eastbound lane of the highway closed 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. One eastbound lane of the highway closed 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Two westbound lanes will be closed 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. with various left turn restrictions.
  • Lane closures in both directions between Puu Poni Street and Kuleana Street, Monday through Friday.

PEARL HARBOR/AIRPORT
Monday through Thursday lane closures for the rail project.

Kamehameha Highway from Arizona Street to Makalapa Road/Gate

  • Two eastbound lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Right turn-only lane into Makalapa Gate is accessible through coned access.

Kamehameha Highway from Halawa Drive to Radford Drive

  • One westbound lane of the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Right turn-only lane from Radford Drive to the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Kamehameha Highway from Center Drive to Radford Drive

  • Up to two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Westbound left contraflow lane (left turn lane to Makalapa Gate routed into protected eastbound lane) may be in effect 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Kamehameha Highway from Makalapa Road to Center Drive

  • Two eastbound lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Left lane will be closed when in use as a contraflow lane.
  • Eastbound bus stop at Kamehameha Highway and Makalapa Road temporarily relocated to mid-block between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Makai Frontage Road (off-ramp) from Kamehameha Highway/Plantation Drive to Valkenburgh Street

  •  One eastbound lane of Nimitz Highway off-ramp closed 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Makai Frontage Road (on-ramp) from Nimitz Highway to Kamehameha Highway/Plantation Drive

  •  One eastbound lane of Nimitz Highway off-ramp closed 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Aolele Street from Aolewa Street to Lagoon Drive

  •  Single westbound lane closed 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —

HONOLULU
8:30 p.m.-3:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure in both directions between Kalihi Street and Alakawa Street for sewage rehabilitation.

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 
Now through 12:01 a.m. Monday morning: Two right lanes closed in the westbound direction between Catlin Drive and Aolele Street as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.

— ALA MOANA BOULEVARD —

HONOLULU
8:30 p.m.-3:30 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure in both directions between Alakawa Street and Kalihi Street for sewage work.
