Saint Louis School graduate and current Philadelphia Soul wide receiver Shaun Kauleinamoku is just one win away from playing in the Arena Football League’s Arena Bowl.
A 5th year pro who has 83 career touchdowns, Kauleinamoku hauled in three scores in Saturday’s win over Cleveland, and over the last two weeks has posted 15 catches for 211 yards and 5 touchdowns.
With his style of play, which is best described as controlled chaos, Kauleinamoku, who has played for four teams in 5 years, has become a fan favorite at each of the cities he has played for and takes pride in representing his home state in the process.
“You know how it is for us local boys,” he said. “We always take pride in being from the rock and having that culture, having the islands on your back. You know, you’re out there not only representing you and your family but for the islands, too, so it’s awesome.
“They give me all kinds of names — the Pineapple Express I had in Spokane and then it went to Special K to the Flyin’ Hawaiian, so you get them all, you know? So you just take it to every family you go to and have fun with it.
This weekend, Kauleinamoku and his top-seeded Soul will host the American Conference Championship against the Jacksonville Sharks at 11 a.m. HST at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday. The game will be televised on the digital cable CBS Sports Network.
