Lawmaker asks businesses to help Ewa schools beat the heat

An Ewa lawmaker is calling on businesses to help schools beat the heat.

State Representative Matt Lopresti is starting a new community program called “Cool Schools 4 Ewa.”

He’s asking businesses to donate large fans and portable air conditioners to the schools that don’t have any. So far, they’ve already received nearly 150 fans from donors that include a home improvement store.

Lopresti said the schools need the extra help, especially during these hot months.

Four of the top five schools on the Department of Education air conditioning priority list are in Ewa Beach. Schools assisted by the program include Ewa Elementary, Ewa Beach Elementary, Holomua Elementary, Kaimiloa Elementary, Ilima Intermediate, and Campbell High School.
