Road Work for the Week, Aug. 22-28

Nehoa Street Bridge rehabilitation to begin Monday

The city announced that bridge improvements will be made starting Monday at the Nehoa Street Drive Bridge No. 264, located between Makiki Street and Anapuni Street.

The work schedule will be from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays. Partial closure of Nehoa Street will allow for at least one lane in each direction open to normal traffic during working hours.

The project includes spall repair, sidewalk replacement, bridge railing replacement, and a fiber reinforced polymer composite system.

Tokunaga Masonry is responsible for coordinating local traffic. Call 851-7060 with concerns.


SCHEDULE OF LANE CLOSURES (Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.):

— H-1 FREEWAY —

PEARL CITY 
8 p.m.-10 a.m. Saturday through Sunday morning: Closure of the Moanalua Road On-Ramp to the freeway in the westbound direction for deck widening and concrete pours.

8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Up to two lanes closed in the eastbound direction between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and the Waiawa Road Overpass for the rail project. The number of lanes closed will vary depending on the location of the roadwork.

PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU
8 p.m.-4 a.m. Saturday through Monday morning: Right lane closures on the freeway in the westbound direction between the Kaonohi Street Overpass and the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) for deck widening.

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 
Now through 12:01 a.m. Monday morning: Three left lanes closed in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15B). All ramps will remain open. Speed limits will be reduced to 15 mph in order to minimize traffic induced vibrations that may lead to cracking in the newly repaired deck.

WAIAWA INTERCHANGE
Sunday through Friday morning between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. for the rail project:

H-1/H-2 Freeways near Leeward Community College

  • Up to three eastbound lanes of the freeway approaching the H-1/H-2 merge (Waiawa Interchange) closed overnight.
  • Number of lanes closed each night may vary depending on location of work along freeway.

Farrington Highway to H-1 Freeway

  • Eastbound Waipahu on-ramp closed 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning.

Freeway Waipahu off-ramp

  • Westbound Waipahu off-ramp closed closed 9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning.

Farrington Highway near Leeward Community College entrance

  • Westbound lanes of the highway near Waiawa Road will be crossed over to the eastbound side 8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning.

WAIPAHU
9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure of the Farrington Highway On-Ramp to the freeway in the eastbound direction for the rail project.

9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) from the freeway in the westbound direction for the rail project.

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

EAST KAPOLEI/EWA
Now through 6 a.m. Monday : Closed between Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road) and Old Fort Weaver Road Loop for the rail project. Also closed 7:30 p.m.-5 a.m. weekdays.

6 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday: Keahumoa Parkway at Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road), one lane closed in each direction.

PEARL CITY 
8 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Two lanes closed in the westbound direction between Waiawa Road and the Kamehameha Highway Overpass for the rail project.

9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Closure of the eastbound on-ramp to the H-2 Freeway in the northbound direction for the rail project.

WAIPAHU
9 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday through Friday morning: Lane closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp from the highway in the westbound direction for the rail project.

Old Fort Weaver Road to Leoku Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Leoku Street to Leokane Street

  • Leoku Street intersection closed 7 p.m.-6 a.m. weeknights. Traffic detoured to Leokane Street.
  • Left turn from the highway westbound at Leoku Street closed 24/7.
  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., plus Saturday as needed.
  • Westbound lanes of the highway closed 7 p.m.-6 a.m.

Pupupuhi Street to Aniani Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Left turns from the highway eastbound and westbound at Aniani closed 24/7.

Aniani Street to Waipahu Depot Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Left turns from the highway eastbound and westbound at Aniani closed 24/7.

Waipahu Depot Road to Mokuola Street

  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Mokuola Street to Paiwa Street

  • Left turn from highway westbound into the strip mall fronting 7-Eleven closed 24/7.
  • Inside lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Paiwa Street to Kahualii Street

  • Left turn from highway eastbound at Kahualii closed 24/7.
  • Inside lane of the highway eastbound closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Kahualii Street to Kamehameha Highway

  • Outside lane of the highway eastbound closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

AIEA/ALOHA STADIUM
Monday through Friday lane closures for the rail project:

Kuleana Road to Kaonohi Street

  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes also closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Various left-turn pocket restrictions will be in place.
  • Westbound lane of the highway closed 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street

  • One inside lane eastbound and one lane westbound closed 24/7 with left-turn restrictions. Two lanes in each direction will remain open during peak travel times.
  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
  • One westbound lane closed 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Pedestrians will be detoured to Kaonohi Street.

Pali Momi Street to Honomanu Street

  • One westbound lane of the highway closed 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Various left-turn pocket restrictions will be in place.
  • Intersection at Pali Momi Street closed after 10 p.m.
  • On Tuesday, westbound lanes of the highway will be crossed over to the eastbound lanes between 11 p.m.-5 a.m.

Near Aloha Stadium-Honomanu Street to Salt Lake Boulevard

  • Up to three westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Various left turn restrictions in place.
  • Eastbound lane closed 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Two eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
  • Up to three westbound lanes of Salt Lake Blvd. will be closed 8 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Intersection at Kohomua Street closed 8 p.m.-5 a.m.

KAAAWA 
24/7 lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in the northbound direction between Keo Place and Trout Farm Road for emergency shoreline improvements.  Traffic will be contraflowed in the remaining open lane.  Motorists are advised to expect delays.

PEARL CITY TO AIEA 
Honolulu Rail Transit will be working on Kamehameha Highway this week at various locations.

  • Westbound lane of the highway near Acacia Road closed between 8 p.m.-7 a.m. with various left-turn restrictions. Eastbound lane also closed between 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Waiawa Road and Acacia Road.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Acacia Road and Waimano Home Road.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Lipoa Place and Pali Momi Street.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Waimano Home Road to Puu Momi Street.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Puu Momi Street to Puu Poni Street.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Puu Poni Street to Kuleana Street.

PEARL HARBOR/AIRPORT
Monday through Thursday lane closures for the rail project.

Kamehameha Highway from Arizona Street to Makalapa Road/Gate

  • Two eastbound lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Right turn-only lane into Makalapa Gate is accessible through coned access.

Kamehameha Highway from Halawa Drive to Radford Drive

  • One westbound lane of the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Right turn-only lane from Radford Drive to the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Kamehameha Highway from Center Drive to Radford Drive

  • Up to two westbound lanes of the highway closed 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Kamehameha Highway from Makalapa Road to Center Drive

  • Two eastbound lanes of the highway closed 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
  • Eastbound bus stop at Kamehameha Highway and Makalapa Road temporarily relocated to mid-block between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Aolele Street from Aolewa Street to Lagoon Drive

  •  Single westbound lane closed 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Keehi Lagoon Park

  •  Sections of the parking lot(s) closed 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —

SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 
Now through 12:01 a.m. Monday morning: Two right lanes closed in the westbound direction between Catlin Drive and Aolele Street as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.
